Black Campus Ministries at UC Berkeley is a movement of students seeking to give our whole lives to Jesus and to serve and love the Black student community. Through our Bible discussions and performing arts groups, we provide spaces for anyone to get to know Jesus and to be a part of a loving, welcoming family.
We are a part of a larger community called InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA is an evangelical and interdenominational campus ministry on more than 600 college and university campuses nationwide. At Cal, BCM is joined by five other sister fellowships:
LaFe – serving the Chicano/Latino community
Kapwa – serving the Filipino community
CCF – our multi-ethnic fellowship reaching various communities on campus
GreekIV – serving fraternity and sorority students
ISM – International Student Ministry
What is InterVarsity?
InterVarsity—meaning between universities—traces its roots to a movement of British university students in the 1870s. The first InterVarsity chapter in the United States began in 1938 at the University of Michigan. Since InterVarsity was incorporated in 1941, thousands of students have become thoughtful representatives of God’s kingdom and have moved into leadership roles in churches, organizations, corporations and agencies around the world.
